Frequently Asked Questions

SPC is the best all-round choice for most Dubai kitchens. Its stone-plastic core is 100% waterproof, resists denting from islands and appliances, and stays dimensionally stable across the swing between 50°C outdoors and air-conditioned interiors. For the wet zone around the sink and dishwasher, specify P4 slip resistance.

Kitchen flooring costs between AED 80 and AED 220 per square metre. Vinyl and SPC are the most affordable, engineered and solid wood the most premium.

Only in dry zones. Laminate is water-resistant, not waterproof. Water reaching the HDF core through a seam swells the board permanently and it can’t be sanded out. It works in open-plan kitchens away from the sink, but in a galley kitchen where the sink and hob dominate, choose SPC or LVT instead.

Vinyl is warmer underfoot, faster to install, and cheaper; porcelain tile is harder and lasts longer. For most Dubai homes, vinyl or SPC wins on cost, comfort, and one-day installation. For commercial kitchens facing constant hot water and chemical cleaning, porcelain at R11 or above is the standard.

Yes, in most cases. SPC, vinyl, LVT and laminate all install over sound existing tiles with grout lines under 5mm. Wider or uneven grout lines are skimmed with self-levelling compound first. Overlaying raises the floor 2–12mm depending on material, so appliance clearance and door swing are checked at the site visit.

Solid wood lasts longest at 30–50 years and can be sanded up to six times, but it isn’t suitable near water. For a kitchen that stays durable and waterproof, SPC lasts 15–20 years, and engineered wood lasts 25–30 years in Dubai conditions.

Our SPC is rated P4 under the pendulum test, which is suitable for wet areas including kitchens. Matt and textured finishes grip better than high gloss, which becomes noticeably slippery when wet.

One day for vinyl, SPC and laminate in a typical 12 m² kitchen. Engineered wood takes 2–3 days and solid wood 3–5 days. Add 48–72 hours beforehand for acclimatisation on any wood or wood-core floor, plus a day if the subfloor needs levelling.

Around the units is standard for most refits, finishing neatly against the plinths. Flooring underneath only makes sense if the kitchen is coming out anyway or you’re building new. It costs more in material but lets you reconfigure cabinetry later without a visible gap. Confirm at the site visit so the quote reflects it.

If you rent, yes. Get written landlord approval first, since most Dubai tenancy contracts treat flooring as an alteration. If you own, many communities require a fit-out application or NOC, particularly for work involving noise or common-area access. Requirements vary by building, so check with your management before booking. Overlay work is usually treated more leniently than demolition.

Yes, in two ways. The swing between 50°C outdoors and 22°C indoors makes wood-core floors expand and contract, which is why we acclimatise on site for 48–72 hours and fit perimeter expansion gaps. Coastal communities also carry higher humidity year-round. SPC is unaffected by both.

Solid wood next to a sink or dishwasher, laminate where standing water is likely, high-gloss finishes near the hob, and vinyl under 3mm beneath a heavy island or American fridge. Any surface rated below P4 in the wet zone is also a poor choice.

Sweep or vacuum regularly and clean with a damp mop and pH-neutral cleaner. Wipe grease and turmeric spills immediately, since pigmented stains set fastest on textured finishes. Avoid steam mops and harsh chemicals on any wood-core floor. Never leave standing water on laminate or wood.

SPC between 4mm and 6mm suits most kitchens, with 6mm or above where there’s a heavy island. Vinyl under 3mm dents permanently under appliance legs. For laminate, AC4 is the practical minimum. Wear layer matters as much as total thickness: 0.3mm minimum domestic, 0.5mm for heavy family use.

Vinyl and laminate last 10–15 years, SPC 15–20 years, engineered wood 25–30 years, and solid wood 30–50 years. Lifespan depends on wear layer thickness, foot traffic, and whether spills are cleaned promptly.

Yes. We supply and install kitchen flooring across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Ras Al Khaimah from our showroom in Al Quoz Industrial Third. Site visits, measurements, and samples are free, and quotes are fixed.
