On 5 October 2026, the Nova Floor team completed a grey wood-look SPC flooring installation in a room in Dubai Marina, UAE. The project was supervised by Noah Williams. Here is how the work went, from the bare floor to the finished room.
The Starting Point
When we arrived, most of the room was already finished. The walls were painted in a soft beige, the white skirting was in place, and the tray ceiling had warm cove lighting and a brass chandelier. On the right side stood a tall wooden slat feature wall with LED strips along its edges. Large glass sliding doors opened onto a balcony with views of palm trees and the Marina towers.
The one thing missing was the floor. The base was bare grey concrete, with some marks and patched areas across the surface.
The Chevron Pattern
The flooring for this room was grey wood-look SPC planks laid in a chevron pattern. In a chevron layout, the plank ends are cut at an angle so they meet in a straight line, forming rows of V shapes. Here, the V lines run from the doorway toward the far wall, which draws the eye along the length of the room.
The Installation
Our team started laying the planks from the slat wall side and worked across the room toward the balcony doors. The in-progress photo shows this stage clearly. About half the floor is covered, and the edge of the new flooring has a zig-zag shape where each chevron row ends. Spare planks lie on the concrete near the window, ready for the next rows.
A chevron floor needs care at every joint. If one plank is slightly off, the V lines start to drift across the room. Under Noah’s supervision, the focus stayed on keeping each row lined up with the one before it. Along the walls, the planks were fitted up to the white skirting and the base of the slat wall for a clean edge.
The Finished Room
In the completed photos, the grey SPC flooring covers the whole room. The chevron lines run straight and even from the door to the far wall. The grey tone and visible wood grain sit well with the beige walls and white skirting, and they give a calm contrast to the darker wood of the feature wall.
The floor also looks different as the light changes. With the curtains open, daylight from the balcony doors spreads across the planks and brings out the grain. With the sheer curtains closed, the light becomes softer and falls in gentle stripes over the floor. The warm glow from the ceiling and the slat wall lighting reflects lightly on the surface, which adds to the relaxed feel of the space.
Looking Back
This flooring installation in Dubai Marina was about getting one detail right: a chevron pattern that stays straight from one end of the room to the other. The grey wood-look flooring now ties the room together, matching the existing walls, lighting, and feature wall without competing with them.
For the Nova Floor team, it was a satisfying job to see the room go from bare concrete to a finished space that is ready to be lived in.
