SPC Flooring Project for a Modern Kitchen in Downtown Dubai

Project Overview

Nova Floor team recently completed an SPC flooring installation in a modern kitchen in Downtown Dubai on 18 September 2026. The client wanted a floor that could handle daily cooking, spills, and busy foot traffic, while still feeling warm and natural. The kitchen already had a clean, contemporary look with handle less cabinets, a marble style backsplash, a stainless steel fridge, and a breakfast counter with bar stools. The floor was the final piece that needed to tie everything together.

SPC was the right choice for this space. Its rigid core stays stable in Dubai heat, it is fully waterproof, and it handles the spills and splashes that every kitchen sees.

Preparing the Subfloor

Good flooring starts with a good base. Our team cleared the kitchen, removed the old floor finish, and cleaned the surface thoroughly. We then checked the levels across the whole area and corrected any low spots. A flat, dry, and dust free subfloor is what keeps SPC planks locked together without gaps or movement later on.

Once the base was ready, we laid a quality underlay. It adds a softer feel underfoot, reduces sound, and gives the planks a stable layer to rest on.

Installing the Light Oak SPC Planks

For this kitchen, the client picked a light natural oak finish with soft grain and gentle colour variation. The planks were laid in a straight pattern running along the length of the room, which makes the kitchen feel longer and more open. Our installers staggered the joints so the floor looks natural and balanced, just like real timber.

The planks were fitted with a click lock system, so each piece snaps firmly into the next. The trickiest part of any kitchen is the edges, so our team took extra care cutting planks around the cabinet base, the oven unit, and the area near the breakfast counter. We left a small expansion gap along the walls, and the grey skirting finishes the edge neatly.

The Final Result

The finished floor changes the whole feel of the kitchen. The light oak tone adds warmth to the white and soft grey cabinets, and it pairs beautifully with the marble style backsplash. When the under cabinet lights are on, the planks pick up a soft glow that makes the space feel calm and welcoming.

Just as important, the floor is easy to live with. A quick sweep and a damp mop is all it needs, and spills wipe away without staining. The client now has a kitchen that looks great and is ready for everyday family life.
