On 8 October, the Nova Floor team arrived at a beautiful villa in Dubai Hills Estate for a new flooring project. The villa had a large, bright living area with tall glass sliding doors that open onto a green garden with palm trees. The owners wanted a floor that looked warm and modern, but was also strong enough for everyday family life. Our answer was SPC flooring.
Why SPC Flooring?
SPC stands for Stone Plastic Composite. It is a rigid floor with a stone-based core, which makes it very strong and stable. It is also waterproof, scratch-resistant and easy to clean. In Dubai, homes deal with heat, strong sunlight, dust and air conditioning running all day. SPC handles all of this well. It does not swell like some wooden floors, and it keeps its shape for years. For this villa, the client chose a light grey oak-look plank. It has a soft wood grain that looks natural and matches nicely with the white walls, cream skirting and black window frames.
How the Day Went
The project was led by our supervisor, Noah Williams. Before starting, Noah checked the concrete subfloor to make sure it was clean, dry and level. This step is very important, because a good floor always starts with a good base. Next, the team rolled out a foam underlay across the floor. The underlay helps reduce noise, makes the floor feel more comfortable to walk on, and protects the planks from small bumps in the concrete. Then the real work began. The team started laying the planks from one side of the room, clicking each one into place. SPC uses a click-lock system, so no glue is needed. A rubber mallet was used to gently tap the joints closed. A tape measure and utility knife were used to measure and cut planks to fit perfectly near the walls and door frames. The team also staggered the joints, so every row looks natural, just like real wood. Noah kept a close eye on every row, checking that the lines were straight and the joints were tight. Small expansion gaps were left at the edges so the floor can move slightly with temperature changes. These gaps were then hidden neatly, so the finish looks clean from every angle.
The Final Result
By the end of the job, the living room looked completely new. The light grey planks run smoothly from the garden doors towards the hallway, making the whole space feel bigger and brighter. Sunlight from the glass doors shows off the soft wood texture beautifully. The floor is quiet to walk on, easy to look after, and ready for many years of family life.
