About the project
On 2 September 2026, the Nova Floor team completed a full flooring transformation in a high-floor apartment in Downtown Dubai. The apartment has floor-to-ceiling windows with a clear view of the Burj Khalifa and the city skyline, so the client wanted a floor that felt warm and premium without taking attention away from the view.
We recommended Dark Walnut SPC flooring laid in a classic herringbone pattern. The result is a rich, deep brown floor with a soft matte finish and natural wood grain that looks like real timber, but performs much better in Dubai’s climate.
Why dark walnut herringbone?
Herringbone is one of the most requested patterns in Dubai apartments right now, and for good reason. The zig-zag layout adds movement and depth to open-plan spaces. In this apartment, it makes the living and dining area feel wider and more designed, even when the room is completely empty.
The dark walnut tone was chosen to balance the interior. The walls are off-white, the curtains are soft beige, and the ceiling has warm cove lighting with three gold ring pendants. A dark floor grounds all of that lightness and gives the space a luxury, hotel-style finish. Under warm evening lighting, the grain really comes alive.
The installation
Our team followed a complete process from start to finish:
- Site inspection and moisture check: we tested the subfloor before ordering material.
- Surface preparation and levelling: herringbone shows every dip, so a flat base is essential.
- Underlay: an acoustic underlay was installed to reduce footstep noise, which is important in high-rise towers.
- Dry layout and centre line: we set the centre line first so the pattern runs perfectly straight into the window wall and the hallway.
- Plank installation: left and right planks were fitted alternately using the click-lock system, with proper expansion gaps at all walls.
- Skirting and trims: dark skirting was matched to the floor tone for a clean, continuous look.
- Final cleaning and handover: the site was cleaned and handed over the same day.
The full living, dining and passage area was completed on schedule, with no damage to the existing paint, curtains or kitchen units.
Why SPC works well in Dubai
SPC flooring is 100% waterproof, so spills, humidity and AC condensation are not a problem. It is dimensionally stable, which means it will not swell or warp the way laminate can. The wear layer resists scratches from furniture and daily traffic, and cleaning is simple, a damp mop is enough.
