The Client’s Needs
A homeowner in Al Barsha 2 contacted Nova Floor for a full interior refresh ahead of moving family back into the villa. The old flooring in the bedrooms, living area, and corridors had seen years of daily use, felt cold underfoot, and had visible wear near the doorways. The curtains were dated too, offering little privacy or light control, which was a real issue in the west-facing bedrooms that get direct sun through the afternoon. The brief was straightforward: a warmer, more comfortable villa with flooring and curtains that actually worked together, not just looked good on their own.
The Installation Process
Our team started with a site visit to check the condition of the subfloor, note where it dipped or needed levelling, and take exact measurements room by room, including closets and the corridor bends. Laminate flooring was chosen for the whole villa for its warm wood-look finish and low maintenance. Old flooring was removed first, followed by an underlay layer to even out the subfloor and add a bit of cushioning.
Planks were then laid room by room, working from the bedrooms through the corridors and finishing in the living area, with skirting boards fitted along the walls for a clean edge. The full flooring and curtain installation was completed over 1 to 5 days, timed around the family’s schedule so parts of the villa stayed usable throughout.
Curtains went up once the flooring in each room was finished, to avoid any dust settling on the fabric. Blackout curtains were fitted in all the bedrooms for privacy and better light control, while sheer curtains were used in the living area so the room stayed bright and open during the day. Each set was measured to its specific window, and tracks were tested for smooth operation before wrapping up.
The Final Result
By the end of the project, the villa felt noticeably different to walk through. The flooring is warm and comfortable underfoot, particularly through the corridors that get the most daily traffic, and it gives the whole home a more connected, consistent look from room to room. The curtains give the bedrooms proper privacy and make it easier to control light for sleeping, while the sheer curtains keep the living area feeling open without losing privacy from outside. The client was pleased with how quickly the work came together and how well the flooring and curtains complemented each other once everything was in place.
